Suicide prevention.

For possible funded suicide prevention training in your area, please look at the Papyrus webpage here.

From coping techniques to conversation starters, distraction techniques and dealing with anxiety, Papyrus have a broad range of help and advice resources for you to access here on their resources section of the Papyrus website.

Trauma-informed practice training workshops.

Thrive LDN is working with Nicola Lester Psychological Trauma Consultancy to offer free, pre-recorded Trauma-Informed Practice training workshops to support individuals and organisations. There are three, free levels of training available for staff to explore online, as part of their e-learning and personal growth.

They also offer general wellbeing training, whether looking for yourself, for clients, to help a friend or others in your community, explore simple tools, ideas and inspiration to help improve wellbeing here on the Thrive Training webpages.

Also worth looking at the SWL Training Hub website for free training, although designed for Primary Care services, sometimes this knowledge can be transferrable. 

FREE mental health first aid training.

South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust has been running mental health training for local residents and businesses, find out more on their website here. 

LSCP training facilities.

Sutton Council's local offer for training facilities can be found on their Learning Management System, managed jointly by the Council and Cognus Limited as part of a shared commitment to deliver a high quality learning and development offer to the workforce in the London Borough of Sutton and more widely for schools.

Community Action Sutton training programme.

Community Action Sutton offer training for voluntary organisations throughout the year. If you have a specific training requirement, they are able to look at designing a bespoke session specifically for your organisation, please email them here with your details and information about the training you are looking for. 

Support with funding searches & applications.

Community Action Sutton can support you with your funding needs, whether you need support to look for funding or simply advice on what to include in an application. They carry out basic funding searches through their database of over 2000 charitable funders in the UK and help guide you through the funding process. Money Helper.

Training around scams.

Friends Against Scams is a National Trading Standards Scams Team initiative which aims to protect and prevent people from becoming victims of scams. You can find out more about this on the Friends Against Scams website. 

Cyber crime.

Exercise in a Box is a free National Cyber Security resource which helps organisations find out how resilient they are to cyber attacks and practise their response.

Fire prevention & safeguarding e-learning.

This training is available on the Sutton Safeguarding Adults Board (SSAB) platform and is for anyone who comes into contact with people who are at an increased risk of fire in their homes, managers, supervisors and safeguarding leadership roles. Basic DBS checks and your organisation.

The Disclosure and Barring Service is responsible for processing DBS checks, issuing DBS certificates, and making decisions about whether individuals should be barred from working with vulnerable groups, including children. Learn more about this on their short YouTube video here.

Deaf awareness training.

The Empowering Deaf Society offer Deaf Awareness Training which looks to equip participants with essential knowledge about the Deaf community, culture and the barriers Deaf individuals face. The training session covers communication strategies, Deaf culture and how to make environments more inclusive for the Deaf. Ideal for businesses, organisations, educators and anyone working closely with Deaf staff and the Deaf community.

Gambling harm support services & training. 

GamCare offer a range of information, advice and support to people affected by gambling. They have a wealth of GamCare training resources for professionals here.

There are also practical tools and resources available for self help, resources you can share with clients. Take a look here at their GamCare toolkit for more information.

The Stop Hate UK website offer a training and education space for all staff here with FREE webinars.

The Sesame Organisation offer a free, one-day online CPD-certified cultural competence training for support workers and professionals. The reflective session enhances awareness and skills for working effectively with ESEA communities.

Needing bespoke workplace training? They provide personal development and learning opportunities for existing workforces from the front line to C-Suite and consider ways to engage all new employees onboarding.

AI opportunities.

Earlier this year the UK Government announced the AI Opportunities Action Plan, which aims to ‘ramp up’ AI adoption across the UK to “boost economic growth, provide jobs for the future and improve people’s everyday lives”.

Reacting to this announcement, the Charity AI Task Force have published their response which has been sent to the Government and are calling on them to engage with the Voluntary, Community, Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector “as a matter of urgency”, read their response here.

Political literacy.

Voice4Change England (V4CE) is a charity and national advocate for the Black and Minoritised voluntary and community sector (BME VCS). They presented to Community Action Sutton recently and shared the following slides about the importance of understanding politics.
