Each pilot project is different. Some take place online, others have drop-in sessions and a few provide 1-2-1, tailored support. All are free to access.

Sutton Mental Health Foundation and Citizen Advice Sutton are working together on a wellbeing support and financial stability programme for residents on the Shanklin Estate, Roundshaw, and St Helier Estates. Working with local housing provider contacts, the pilot will deliver a series of community-based events and pop-up clinics designed to help people address pressing housing, financial, and social issues that are affecting their mental health and wellbeing.

Activities will be hosted in accessible community venues and public spaces and offer residents direct access to SMHF support staff and CAS advisors and provide mental health support and signposting from the Sutton Mental Health Foundation and targeted peer and expert advice  on housing rights, benefits, debt management, and financial resilience, from Citizens Advice Sutton.

Preventing homelessness.

Home Start Sutton’s pilot will establish a referral pathway with other community sector partners, schools, and nurseries to identify and assist at-risk families before they become homeless. The support delivered by Home Start Sutton staff and volunteers with lived experience is to empower families by educating them on housing options, encouraging them to address property issues, and referring them to financial support and legal aid assistance when needed.

The Afghanistan and Central Asian Association’s Pathways to Stability programme is a comprehensive, trauma-informed homelessness prevention project operating across the borough including Sutton Central, Cheam, Wallington, Carshalton, Beddington, and St Helier.

This pilot aims to support refugees, asylum seekers, elderly, and ethnic minority residents - facing acute housing insecurity, including those with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF), survivors of domestic violence, and individuals with mental health challenges.

PP_Sutton Night Watch Logo

The Sutton Night Watch pilot aims to provide service users a range of services to ensure they are getting the very best advice on their housing and welfare status. They will be working with people with lived experience to create video/sound bites (due to be uploaded in March 2026) with straightforward and easy to understand advice aimed at helping someone facing an eviction, who are homeless or sofa surfing. Sutton Night Watch are also developing a scheme handbook with all kinds of information and helpful hints as well as group meet ups where service users can speak face to face with support workers from all sectors. Between the sound bites and handbook, the aim is to empower the people through improving their confidence when handling financial and housing situations.

Creating Hope’s pilot project introduces a series of online, digital sessions as part of their Job Club programme. The sessions will provide hands-on technical support, guiding clients through the digital process of identifying suitable employment opportunities and preparing effectively for interviews. Each participant will receive personalised, one-on-one coaching from an experienced Job Coach, using computers to ensure tailored, practical guidance that builds confidence and job-readiness - particularly for Sutton adults facing significant life challenges such as long-term unemployment, financial hardship, or social isolation.

Sutton Carers Centre Logo Small

Sutton Carers Centre's pilot aims to improve unpaid Carers’ access to respite, connecting them with new or existing resources to help them take a break from their caring responsibilities. Places are limited for this pilot and a referral is needed from Sutton Council's Adult Social Services team. However, if you support a loved one, friend, or relative due to a long‑term physical or mental health condition, disability, or sudden illness, Sutton Carers Centre offers a wide range of support, advice and activities for Carers of all ages, including Young Carers aged 8 and above that do not require a referral.

Preventing falls and keeping your balance.

Advice Support Knowledge Information (ASKI), is working with local heritage based groups to put on a 12 month falls prevention programme is for older people aged 65+ from Black and minoritised communities, particularly those with mobility difficulties, health conditions (including Dementia, Parkinson’s, Disabilities) and older men, who are often less likely to engage in community health activities and may therefore face higher risks of preventable health issues and falls. Activities will take place through ACHA, SACCO, Place At My Table Sutton and Sangam Sutton.

Ryan Neuro Therapy’s It’s a Matter of Balance is specifically designed for people who have experienced falls, or are at risk of falling. It’s a free 8 week programme consisting of a 50 minute small group exercise classes, plus education topics, including falls risk awareness, foot care and footwear, balance, dizziness, blood pressure, home safety, mobility aids, medication side effects, hydration, sleep and nutrition. Sessions are guided by specialist physiotherapists in a supportive and encouraging environment.

The Wallington Community Wellbeing Charity’s Thursday Club is a friendly and welcoming space for all living with memory loss and dementia, their carers, and loved ones. Join in for free refreshments and a friendly chat in a relaxed environment for activities and support. Activities include: activities and games, music, arts and crafts, talks, a Carers Corner for people looking after someone with dementia, health checks and advice from NHS healthcare professionals every month. These are drop-in, open sessions and there’s no need to pre-book or register to attend.

Home visits for older residents.

Volunteer Centre Sutton is pleased to launch the Wellbeing Support Project. The project will provide trained volunteers to support older people aged 50+ in the Wallington area who are housebound, living with a disability, or experiencing limited mobility.

Volunteers will offer practical and emotional support, helping residents to access local services, stay connected to their community, and make informed choices about issues affecting their wellbeing. The service is designed to promote independence, reduce isolation, and ensure people feel supported in their own homes.

Support for people with learning disabilities.

Advocacy for All’s Touch Base project is a pilot providing direct support to people aged 18+  with a learning disability to help improve mental health and wellbeing, physical health and prevent avoidable long-term conditions. Support includes: 1-2-1 self-advocacy and group sessions introducing a variety of accessible coping strategies and wellbeing exercises.

Fortnightly learning disability and wellbeing drop-in session and phone, text, and online (Zoom) support is available.

Preventing homelessness support for families.

The Sutton Women’s Centre and Roehampton University are collaborating on a pilot aimed at preventing homelessness among women experiencing or at risk of domestic abuse. They are offering advocacy and direct support, including 1-1 support for women at risk of homelessness and access to an advocate who will provide holistic support, including safety planning, counselling access, debt and tenancy advice, and help with navigating benefits, landlord negotiations, and council housing processes.
